What Is GIA certification?

You may be wondering, what is GIA certification? It is an evaluation of the quality of a diamond (or other gemstone). The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) created the system used to evaluate diamonds. The GIA trains gemologists and appraisers whose services are valued the world over. These former students have been taught to rate gemstones according to a strict set of guidelines created by the GIA. Evaluations by GIA-trained gemologists are more consistent than those by gemologists trained elsewhere.

Diamonds are rated according to the 4C's: color, clarity, cut and carat weight. Using the GIA's exacting standards, each stone is evaluated and graded on each of the 4C's. As the GIA created the 4C's system, they are the best qualified to make use of it. Their reputation depends on adhering to their own strict guidelines. It is this certification you should ask for before buying a diamond.

Want to Buy a Diamond?

Ralph Mueller & Associates sells GIA-certified diamonds, both new and used. The GIA certification assures you are getting the quality diamond you want and deserve.

Should you ever want to sell your diamond, you will already have the GIA certification and will not need to have the diamond evaluated before you can sell it, saving you time in the future.

Want to Sell Your Diamond?

A certification from GIA will help, but is not necessary. Ralph Mueller & Associates employs GIA-trained gemologists who can evaluate and appraise your diamond. All evaluations are free, even if you chose not to sell the diamond.

Selling old, unwanted jewelry can be a good way to make some extra money for you and your family. Providing for a family can be hard, so why not sell that old jewelry you don't wear anymore?
